Privacy Policy

ComparisonLab is a reading site, not an account site. You don't sign up, log in, or hand us your email to use it. What we do collect is limited to understanding how the site is used — and this page explains all of it.
What we collect
Usage analytics. We use analytics tools to understand how the site is used — the pages you view, the links and buttons you interact with, the page that referred you, URL parameters, your browser and device type, your IP address, an approximate location and network provider derived from it, and Cloudflare signals about automated traffic. Analytics requests are served through our own domain. Values that look like passwords, authentication tokens, or contact details are redacted before the event is stored.
Outbound clicks. When you click a shopping link, we record which product link was clicked, its position on the page, and the affiliate destination URL we send you to. We don't follow later retailer redirects or see what you purchase. This is how we know which recommendations are actually useful.
Cookies and browser storage. Our analytics store a first-party cookie and similar browser storage holding a random identifier, so we can recognize a returning browser and group page views into a session. Our first-party event records also include cookies sent to our site so this context remains available during analysis. Authentication, session, CSRF, token, password, and contact-detail cookie values are replaced with a redacted marker before storage.
Contact form.If you write to us through ourcontact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to send. We use them only to read and respond to your message, and we delete messages once they're no longer needed.
What we don't collect
Beyond what you choose to send through the contact form, we don't collect names, email addresses, payment details, or purchase histories. There are no accounts, and we never see what you buy after you leave our site — retailers report commissions to us in aggregate, without identifying you.
Affiliate links and third parties
Our shopping links are affiliate links. When you follow one to a retailer or marketplace such as Amazon, that site may set its own cookies to attribute any purchase you make to us, which is how we earn a commission. What happens on a retailer's site is governed by that retailer's privacy policy, not this one.
We also rely on service providers to run the site — hosting, content delivery, and analytics. They process data on our behalf and aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes.
How we use this data
We use analytics to understand which guides help readers, to measure which links get clicked, and to improve the site. That's it. We don't sell personal information, we don't run targeted advertising, and we don't share analytics data except with the service providers above or when the law requires it.
Your choices
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the site works fine without them. If you'd like to know what data we hold that's associated with your browser, or want it deleted, reach us through the contact form and we'll handle it.
Children
ComparisonLab is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the homepage.
