ComparisonLab
Methodology

How ComparisonLab tests every product we recommend.

A recommendation is only useful if you trust how it was made. Here's exactly what we do — for every category, every guide.

  1. 01
    Survey the market

We map every product worth considering — from mainstream best-sellers to enthusiast picks — cross-referencing expert reviews, spec sheets, and thousands of owner comments.

  2. 02
    Build a shortlist

We narrow the field to a shortlist based on the criteria that actually matter for that category — not just what's easy to measure.

  3. 03
    Buy at retail

Every finalist is purchased anonymously at retail. No PR samples, no review units, no cherry-picked hardware.

  4. 04
    Controlled testing

Products go through a repeatable set of side-by-side tests in real conditions — same room, same input, same measurements.

  5. 05
    Long-term use

Top picks stay in service for months so we can flag durability issues, warranty friction, and the quiet quality-of-life wins that only show up over time.

  6. 06
    Re-check quarterly

New products launch constantly. We revisit every guide at least quarterly and update picks the moment something better arrives.

What we won't do
  • — Accept paid placement, sponsored picks, or "featured" spots.
  • — Recommend a product we haven't personally tested.
  • — Keep a pick live if it's been discontinued or degraded.
  • — Hide the fact that we may earn commission on links.
